One of the key elements of jazz mastery is the ability of the artist to tell stories through music; an art that many feel has been lost. The remarkable guitarist Adam Smale indeed has stories to tell. To weave his fascinating stories, Adam brings two formidable components to the table – his personally designed 7-string guitars, and a virtuosic mastery honed by the influence of a diverse array of brilliant guitarists and musicians.

His first musical influences very early in life include Flatt & Scruggs, Chet Atkins, Albert Lee and Eddie Van Halen. Later discovering a goldmine of jazz guitar masters, including Pat Martino, Pat Metheny, Tal Farlow, Jim Hall, and John Scofield, and Kurt Rosenwinkel, along with Charlie Parker and Bill Evans, a new world of possibilities opened up for him. But it was the music of the legendary Lenny Breau that had the greatest impact, not only in the direction of his music, but in the physical means by which he would choose to express it.
